Washing & Care

How to wash your wool sweater from Dale of Norway?

Generally speaking, wool requires limited washing and care. It is naturally dirt and odor resistant, while weatherproof products are soil resistant, therefore it is rare that these sweaters need to be washed. All products from Dale of Norway have a care label inside them with specific care instructions. Some of these garments might need to be hand-washed, some can be machine-washed on wool cycles, however, some general instructions might still be handy:

  • Hand wash at 30 C / 86 F while using a detergent with a neutral pH (mild wool detergent)

  • Machine wash at 30 C / 86 F on the wool cycle while using a detergent with a neutral pH

  • Do not bleach or wash with chlorine based products

  • Iron at low heat, if necessary, inside out

  • Do not tumble dry

  • Dry flat, and never in direct sunlight

  • Water-repellent products should be ironed after washing. Do not use softener when washing

How to care for your seal-skin boots?

All products from Topaz of Norway are made from natural products, therefore it is important to keep the following things in mind:

  • There is no need to treat any sealskin shoes that you purchased. This is because the sealskin has a natural layer of fat that keeps the shoes from absorbing water.

  • The boots are not waterproof. In case it rains and your boots get wet, both two cold isolation insoles should be taken out and dried.

  • In case your boots get muddy, wipe them with a damp cloth and brush them with a soft brush.

  • Do not dry boots with heat! The boots will lose their durability as the skin will dry out.

  • Do not take off your shoes by putting the tip of one shoe against the heel of the other. It causes the hairs to fall off.
